About Me
My name is Donna Clark and I am currently a teacher at Goolwa Primary School after completing the double degree Bachelor of Education (Middle and Secondary)/ Bachelor of Health Science at Flinders University, South Australia. My subject specialisations are in Physical Education, Health and Biology in the middle years. Sport has always been a vast aspect of my life, where I have engaged in a wide range of volunteer work for Southern District Cricket Club as a Women's Committee member and players representative, Management Committee member and representative and Social and fundraising committee member. I have also done volunteer work for Cricket Australia, where my dedication, commitment and hard work were recognised by representatives of theirs and was selected to become a Community Ambassador for them.
My background in cricket coaching as been extensive since the age of 11 when I first began assisting a coach attend schools to run Active After Schools and Milo in2cricket programs. Since then, I became a recognised coach through both programs, and managed to hold record numbers for my own Milo In2Cricket centre with a total of 165 participants. During those sessions, I managed to plan and cater for all children's needs, teach another 9 coaches on how to coach and involve parents/carers in their learning process of the game. I am currently the women's representative for Southern District Cricket Club, where over the past few years I have been volunteering my time to conduct training sessions and one on one sessions with females aged between the ages of 10 and 40. During my time as a coach, I was also selected to be a part of a television show episode called 'Totally Wild', where I was asked to 'coach' viewers on specific cricket skills. As a sportswomen, I have been playing cricket since I was 9 years of age. I have played for South Australia since the age of 10 in both Indoor and Outdoor cricket, whilst also playing for Australia in Indoor Cricket. During this time, I have had many coaching and opportunities at both district, community and state level, where I was a manager and assistant coach for South Australia's Under 21's Indoor Cricket Team and assisted with Australian cricket teams training programs.
I have represented the state in both indoor and outdoor cricket with some leadership experience. I am currently a level 1 accredited cricket coach, and have held various coaching roles with primary, middle and senior school aged players, along side of undergraduate students and full time workers.
During my professional experiences, I made the most out of every opportunity to improve my professional development as a teacher. To do this I:
- Attended and engaged in professional development days
- Engaged with parents/carers in students learning experiences
- Volunteered and assisted with school sports carnivals and events
- Assisted teachers on camp during and after my professional experience
- Volunteered at both primary and secondary schools to sports programs
I have created this portfolio based on the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers, where I will provide evidence of reaching these standards at a proficient level. Evidence provided within this portfolio are obtained from my own professional experiences as a pre-service teacher, and also through cricket coaching amongst school children.
